The Greatest Story Ever Told

Come to me all you young and old
and listen to the greatest story ever told
It is the story of a baby boy
who was destined to save the world
He was the king of all from His birth
and a servant of all at His death
He grew up to be unlike any other
no one in the world is His better

On His brow sits wisdom
greater than that of King Solomon
On His arms lay strength
vast enough to shake the earth
His love abounds without measure
and He dispenses it on all with pleasure
He is rich in an enduring mercy
and forgives offenses easily
He is full of an amazing grace
and bestows it on all who seek His face

He started His ministry at age thirty
preaching on behalf of the Father almighty
He taught how to live a good life
loving others and living without strife
Do to others as you will have them do to you,
was one of His greatest rules
To live life to the fullest
he taught to forgive and forget
Not a single teaching that came from His mouth
did He Himself not live it out
He came that all may have life abundantly
and He modeled it by living perfectly

Alas His words fell on deaf ears
the truth was too hard for some to bear
The people were set in their way
so they kept Him and His teaching at bay
They were so threatened by this man
that their hearts devised a wicked plan
They made up an excuse for His arrest
and sentenced Him to death
The very ones this man came to save
rejected Him and sent Him to the grave

This man had lived a life that was righteous
He didn’t deserve a death that was ignominious
He, however, walked into their hands willingly
though He knew would suffer excruciatingly
He gave His life for our atonement
so that all may escape God’s judgment
And even as His life was fading to nothingness
His heart was overflowing with forgiveness
He loved them till the very end
the very people that had Him condemned

You might have guessed by now
whom this story is all about
This man is none but our Lord Jesus
who came so God may be with us
He died to purchase our freedom
so that we may enter God’s kingdom

You may despair thinking He is dead
but never fear, this not the end
This is not a tragic tale to make you feel blue
on the contrary, it is very good news
See, there is one chapter left in the story
and it will forever stick to your memory

On the third and fateful day
the stone of the tomb was rolled away
Behold, the son of God has risen!
He now holds the keys to death and Hades!
He conquered death in a blazing victory
bearing testimony of God’s power and glory
The heavens and the earth are singing
For Jesus Christ the one true King

So go on and tell this story far and wide
let everybody know Jesus is alive
Proclaim it all over the world
that Jesus Christ is Lord
His death and resurrection
is our way to salvation

Tell everyone you know
that Jesus is in Heaven on His throne
But He will come back again
and forever remove all sorrow and pain
He will take us to the Father
And we will live eternally together
