Got Questions is one of my favorite Christian ministries. Ever since becoming a Christian six years ago, I have had many questions about the Bible and the Christian life. And Got Questions has been a reliable resource that helped me understand Scripture better. All Christians need a trusted go-to place to find answers to our most pressing biblical questions. So Michael Rydelnik, professor at Moody Bible Institute, has provided such a resource in his new book, 50 Most Important Bible Questions.
Rydelnik also hosts Open Line, a program on Moody Radio where people call in with questions about the Bible. After answering thousands of Bible questions since 2012, he selected what he observed to be the 50 most important ones in this book.
He wrote this book, not only to provide us with answers but also to encourage us to study Scripture and learn to find answers ourselves.
He says, “As you realize that there are solid biblical answers to these biblical questions, I hope you’ll be motivated to keep reading the Bible, God’s Word. And, as you read, you will find more and more and more questions, certainly, more than this book will answer. But hopefully, this book will give you the encouragement to keep studying and find answers for yourself, straight from Scripture.”
The 50 questions cover eight primary areas: the Gospel and Salvation, the Bible in General, the primeval world of Genesis, the Old Testament, Jesus the Messiah, the Jewish people, seeming contradictions and mysteries, and biblical concerns and practices.
Rydelnik chose excellent (and even challenging questions) in this book. I had no suitable answers for some questions and never had the sense to ask a few others. The answers are thorough, easy to understand, and based on the Bible. Like 50 Most Important Theological Terms, this book is easy to read and doesn’t feature dense academic writing. However, it is much longer (400 pages), and it might be harder to read it cover to cover.
In sum, 50 Most Important Bible Questions is a helpful book that should benefit all Christians, especially new believers. It is a book to have in your library to look up Bible questions either for yourself or for others.
Moody Publishers graciously gave me a copy, and this is my honest review.
